What is Chortleberry?

Chortleberry is an online photography community. Members can post their own photography (nothing pornographic, please), take part in photography discussions and chats, and write their own photography blogs. Membership is free.

How to use Chortleberry

To navigate the site, just click on the different sections in the menu on the left. If there are any further options for that section, the menu will expand to show them.
Most sections have a help page. Just click the Help link to learn more about that section.

Guests vs. free membership

You can look at most things on the site without needing to become a member, but for a better experience you can register to become a member for free. It's very quick to register, and all you need is a valid email address, and to be an adult (at least 18 years old).
Members can do much, much more, such as send other members messages and instantly post their own photographs. They're also given more daily credits to look at photographs with.
Membership is free, and once you're a member you have the chance to access more account features by earning an enhanced account. Enhanced accounts are a sort of reward for members that contribute to the site in various ways.

Icon legend

Various links on the website use icons to give more information on the thing they're linking to. Here's a guide on what those icons mean.

Member links may appear as text or text and a small avatar thumbnail. Clicking this link will take you to the member's public portfolio.
These icons may appear in front of the link:
[ ] [ ] - the account owner is male   [ with an enhanced account ]   [ with a gold account ].
[ ] [ ] - the account owner is female   [ with an enhanced account ]   [ with a gold account ].
- the account has recently been created.
- the member is a site moderator.

- a photo. This may appear as text or text and a thumbnail of the photo. Clicking this link will take you to the full-sized photo.
These icons may appear after the link:
- the photo has been entered into a challenge. Click this icon to go to the challenge.
- the photo has been posted as an example for a challenge. Click this icon to go to the challenge.
- this photo has a hi-res version available for members with a gold account.

- a challenge. Clicking this link will take you to the challenge page.

- a member's blog. Clicking this link will take you to blog summary page for that blog.
- a blog entry. Clicking this link will take you to that blog entry.

- a forum thread. If the link is separated by a » then the link to the left is a link the forum and the link to the right is a link to the thread.

Credits

The number of photographs in the gallery that you can look at each day is determined by the amount of credits you are given. Guests and normal members have a fixed amount of credits they can use each day.
Guests are given -1 and normal members get 150. Enhanced and gold accounts have unlimited credits.

Navigating multiple pages

Some sections of the site (such as the gallery archives) may return results that spread over many pages.  You can change between these pages by clicking on the page number you want to look at.  If there are hundreds and hundreds of results, you'll see a list of page groups too, such as [1-15] [16-30].  So if you wanted to look at page 25, click the [16-30] link, and then click the link above for page [25].

You can normally change the number of results you get per page, and the order in which they're displayed by selecting the navigation options displayed at the top of the page.
The gallery needs cookies enabled to be able to navigate across pages.

Timezone

Times displayed on the site are in GMT.

I didn't receive an activation email!

It could take several hours for emails to traverse the internet. Don't forget to check your spam folders too. If haven't got the email after some time, go to the re-send activation email page to get a new email sent out.

I've forgotten my password!

That's not a problem. Just go to the password reminder page to get a reminder.

Problems

If you wish to report a photograph that has been posted by a member without permission, please use the form below the photograph to report it.
