Tech Advice!

Just wondering what connection you guys and gals use for Tinternet? iv'e been using B.T. all this time and find it so slow, recieved a bill today for £53 paying for broadband 2meg when i actually only get 1meg,charges for line rental,VAT and the cost of calls came to 54 pence
I'm being ripped off and want to close my landline down. They'll be a thing of the past i reckon! I tried getting cable once and after digging up my garden and drilling holes in my walls, they chapped on my door and said sorry we can't go any further. We'll have to dig up the road in your culdesac and where not allowed to do that. Even in my job when pupils are driving to slow i say: C'mon speed up..your driving slower than my broadband connection! Anyone using or tried those DONGAL plugins? Don't say with 3 network cos i'm the last man on the planet still using them, keeping their business alive. Tino!

Hey Tino,

I used to use my bluetooth dongle but that was a couple of years ago when 'mobile internet' wasn't advertised that well, so my phone was effectively just a dial up modem, with slow speeds and high costs.

I won't talk about BT because they give me rage so I won't go there!

I'm currently with Sky. We get that See Speak Surf. Base broadband is free - 2MB with a capped usage of 2GB. We have mid range broadband which is £5 a month - 8MB with a 40GB allowance. It's always fast, always reliable and was really easy to set up. Never had a problem with Sky. Or if you use shedloads then the top range is £10 with 16MB and unlimited allowance. But to be honest we've got two laptops and an online XBox and we've never gone over 40GB.

Hope this was some help smile

Thanks for that! I'm looking into it today with sky,my only reservation is them using the existing landline for broadband. B.T. have told me i'm quite a distance from the exchange and that's the reason it's slow, there probably bullshitting mind you there good at that. Thanks again Tino!

BT are fab at that, I think they do it better than anything else cos they certainly don't do much of anything else!! We're not too far from the max distance from the exchange and we do alright. I think Sky are offering their own phoneline now, but I'm not 100% sure. We use our BT line and we're stuck with it til our contract runs out. Boo.

Good luck!

Take a look at http://www.broadband-finder.co.uk/compare-broadband/compare-broadband.html where you can look at the best deals for your postcode.
Unfortunately the distance from the nearest exchange does have a big effect, so BT aren't exactly lying, but then again the quality of their infrastructure is their problem, which they don't do a great deal about......
