I've gone world wide!

Quite a while ago I bought the domain name of my name - seemed like a good idea at the time - and never really used it. I have never understood web programming, if that's what it's called, and never really knew what I was going to do with it, but now I've found out a bit (a very little bit)about html I thought I'd have a go. It is just set up to display a few of my photos at the moment but I'm hoping touse it as an online cv of my work if I decide to start offering my services as a photographer at events. I've already been offered three days work taking pictures at a conference in Edinburgh. Problem is it's not until 2012, I wanted to get started a bit sooner than that really.

I want to put a guest book on it or something similar where people can leave comments, but I have no idea how to make my mysql database work, and apparently that's pretty important, I know I have one, just don't how to use it. So for now it's more study and hopefully some time in the future people will be able to leave their comments for me.

In the mean time please go and check it out (don't expect anything that's going to win any prizes) and let me know what you think.

Top funs!

Having your own website's a hoot. There are a couple of scripts around that let you have a guestbook without needing MySQL. One of those might do the trick. Or hire an expert (pick me! Oh, pick me! Go on!)

When it needs to look like I know what I'm doing I will consider hiring an expert, in the meantime I shall hunt down these non MySQL guest books, btw the way you may want to consider referring to yourself as a pro rather than expert, after all, ex = has been and spirt = drip under pressure.

Nice presentation in the website. You may want to look at putting a copyright sign on some of the pics or else disabling the "right click-save as" option.

I have tried to disable the right click. The web albumn is a free down load that you use to create the albumn then upload it to the server, I can disable the right click on the thumb nail pages but can't work out what to do when the photo is displayed on its own.

The way to go is watermarking though, even disabling the right click won't stop someone who is determined to have one of your pictures for themselves. The print Screen is the first obvious way round a disabled right click.

I think I'll put a copyright notice on the home page though, that seems like a sensible thing to do (and pretty obvious really).
