Unscrupulous B*st*rds!

Not a post today about photographers, but about buying a camera. Having got increasingly annoyed about going out and swapping lenses over on my old 300D I thought it about time to get a new camera, so off to Ebay I went. Found a good priced 450D, from a seller with reasonable scores (at the time) and so parted with my cash and bought it.

3 days later the camera arrives - so far so good. I eagerly open the box and am slightly perplexed by the fact that the camera I thought was coming from Bristol in the UK had an American plug on the charger - has the West Country become the 53rd state of the US? I contact the selling company - no response.

Then to top it off this morning an invoice comes from Fedex asking for the Import Duty for my purchase. Off to Ebay and lo and behold the seller (luxurycorner if you're interested) has a load of negative feedback about the guy shipping things unexpectedly from the US.

The moral of this story is that whilst net prices may be good always be aware that you could pick up extra costs that you never factored in (oh, and there are lying b*st*rds on ebay, but no one should be surprised about that!)

Grrr!
Can you not forward the invoice to the seller? I'd tell you to contact eBay, but they're notorious for not caring in the slightest.
If it's a UK person you could report them to the trading standards agency. They've certainly mis-sold the camera if they didn't tell you it was coming from America.

Invoice has been sent back to Fedex ("my contract was not with you, I suggest you take it up with the person who contracted you to deliver this item to me" wink and complaint now going through Paypal, although I'm not going to hold my breath for a positive outcome, despite the obvious mis-selling.

Still, on the postive side it's a lovely little camera!!
