Bad Timing Again!

Close to whee I work is a small lake (ok, it's a pond but the people who run the business park like to think in romatic terms!) and a pair of Egyptian Geese have set up home. Wandering past during lunchtimes I've seen them build a nest and the goslings hatch.

So last week, on a sunny day, I brought my camera to work with a view of leaving off early to get some cutesy pictures. Sun is in the right position and is nice and bright, parent birds are in the reeds, so where are the goslings? Have they all been eaten since I saw them the day before? Are they all in hiding?

Nope, the answer is more mundane - they'd all managed to get into an overflow culvert and couldn't get out! So not wanting to take pictures of cute animals underneath a steel grating my photo opportunity was dashed for another day (and since then the weather has been too crap to take decent pictures!).

Sometimes the god of photography gives you opportunities, sometimes he takes them away....

(from an animal friendly perspective I did contact the site owner and got her to get the grating unlocked and the goslings out - so all 11 are currently swimming around happliy)

You shouldn't get involved with nature Mark, leave it alone even if they get trapped in man made structures. That's Life and petrol is more important. lol
